MAN OVERBOARD
The MAN OVERBOARD SERIES (1991- present) is a collection of prints, drawings, and assemblages inspired by the birth of my daughters. According to modern science, life on earth originated in the ocean and control of the oceans has been of great importance for ambitious nations. In response, my recent work explores the theme of "sea power". This series also involves the discovery of chance connections between events, ideas and images.
SOPHISTO
The SOPHISTO SERIES (1985-2016) is a collection of drawings and prints which were inspired by children's drawings. Each work features "cut-out" figures drawn in a mock-children's style juxtaposed with naturalistically rendered objects in illusionistic space. The series explores the relationship of the "naive" to the "sophisticated" and the transformation from child to adult that most of us undergo. It seems that desirable qualities such as curiosity, spontaneity, and sincerity are often diminished as people become adults.
INCUBATOR
The INCUBATOR SERIES (1963-1987) is a collection of arwork created during my childhood and selected works created as an art student.
